What our guests say…

Single Traveller

As a single traveller, Chrissie and Joe made me so welcome. I was a bit nervous about a Navigation Course I was heading off to do, but they were wonderfully encouraging. I love their sense of fun too!. The B&B itself is wonderful, very comfortable with exceptional attention to detail. I will definitely be back…

Friends Away!

What a wonderful place to stay, wonderful hospitality from Chrissie and Joe! Everything we needed and more, extremely comfortable beds and lovely rooms, with lots of thoughtful extras. There was nothing they hadn’t thought of! We had a wonderful breakfast, fresh fruit salad, yoghurts and a cooked breakfast, delicious! Chrissie was delightful and Joe was a laugh a minute, we had a wonderful time! I stayed here with two friends and we all agreed we instantly felt at ease and comfortable, it was like visiting old friends. I will be recommending Lockholme to everyone I know that may head for Cumbria and if we are ever up that way again, there’s no doubt we will be returning!

Thankyou for making our stay so enjoyable!

Great Mini Break

We booked a two night, mini break stay, just before the second lockdown. We were SO lucky to have stayed here! The room was fantastic, very comfortable with ensuite, and beautiful views outside our window. All Covid measures were in place. The place was spotless. Lots of room for muddy boots etc after beautiful walks in their stunning countryside. Joe and chrisse made us feel very welcome. Tea and cakes on arrival, fantastic cooked breakfasts, using local produce. We will not hesitate to recommend Lockholme B&B to others and will definetly be back!

Fantastic!

My husband and I stayed here late July 2020 for one night walking the Coast to Coast. The welcome was great and our room was immaculate with the best ensuite. Additional Covid relating cleaning products had been made available in the room, and also around the B&B. The B&B owners had gone above and beyond in respect to Covid procedures, to ensure that all felt safe and secure, without feeling overboard. Both hosts very friendly! Breakfast was served in their lovely breakfast/dining room and could not be faulted. The jellybabies were especially appreciated when we reached the Nine Standards, thankyou for that lovely gesture.

Would definitely, positively stay here again! A******

Great Start to the Coast to Coast!

We loved our stay in this beautiful home. We had a lovely welcome with tea and cake and were shown to a fabulous room. Breakfast was very good and the packed lunch had some nice surprises. As lots of C2C walkers have their first night in Kirkby Stephen,it was an especially nice touch to have a box of ‘essential items’ you may have forgotten. This was all capped off with a really friendly and pleasant couple.

Perfect in every way!

We stayed in this B&B while walking the Coast to Coast. Chrissie and Joe are fantastic hosts and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfy. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. We enjoyed our stay so much we decided to return the day we completed the C2C!

Thankyou Chrissie and Joe for a wonderful stay!

An Amazing Stay!

What a special place Lockholme is where do I start? I decided to book for my husband’s birthday as we love the surrounding area. When we arrived, we were greeted and made to feel special by Chrissie, who made us a cup of tea and had made Dan a birthday cake! Our room was gorgeous , full of special touches like chocolates and a greeting card also, importantly, spotlessly clean. We ate out locally and really enjoyed the recommended pub food. After a ‘wet’ walk (well it is February) we were able to dry our coats and boots off in the drying room at Lockholme which, for walkers, is a huge bonus. Last but not least we had a great night’s sleep in the most comfortable beds followed by a superbly cooked delicious breakfast! We will return. Thank you.

Outstanding Welcome

We had a wonderful stay with Chrissie and Joe they were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble (laundry, packed lunch with home made cake!)… room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable after a long day walking the coast to coast. Joe even provided us with an umbrella for the short walk to the pub… Thanks for a fantastic stay we will be back…

Home from Home
If you are thinking of staying at Lockholme
There’re a few things that you should know;
The Landlady’s name is Chrissie
And the Entertainer’s name is Joe.

Now, Chrissie’s attention to details
Is evident for all to see,
In the helpful notes around the house
And she only uses Yorkshire Tea!

The delights of this lovely home,
Which can’t be learnt from any book,
Are all the precious little treasures,
Found in every corner, cranny and nook,

But Joe’s contribution is more subtle,
His life comments are some of the best ‘uns.
He is the foundation that Lockholme is built on.
And more importantly, he loves his Westerns.

So, to all you intrepid walkers,
Who are attempting some coast-to-coasting
The best place to stay is Lockholme.
That’s just a fact… no boasting!

Thank you, Chrissie & Joe
